I hope you have gained a lot of information about your family history from the links I have given you. I usually don't recommend anyone spend any money on programs and such until they are ready, but if you think you are ready I can recommend an ebook that will be very helpful.

Outdated Medical Terms

Sometimes during your searches you will come across death certificates or other records with medical terms that you don't recognize. Long ago they used a lot of medical terms that, many if not most, are no longer used today.

Here is a list of some of those terms with their meanings.
Apoplexy - Stroke

Bad blood - Syphilis

Consumption - Tuberculosis

Decrepitude - Feebleness due to old age

Dropsy - Congestive Heart Failure

French Pox - Syphilis

LaGrippe - Influenza

Lock jaw - Tetanus

Podagra - Gout

This is just a short list. There are many more. If you have a disease or cause of death and can't find out what it means, let me know and I will look it up for you.
